Panic
A cinematic journey through the human mind, where your choices determine if you escape the nightmare or succumb to the dark.
Panic is a high-tension psychological horror experience that takes players on a journey through the human mind. Following the story of David, a young man battling deep-seated fears, the game blends cinematic storytelling with an oppressive, haunting atmosphere. My goal was to move beyond simple 'jump scares' and create a truly immersive world where every shadow tells a story, making the player feel the weight of David’s internal struggle.
The Challenge
The biggest hurdle was creating a game that feels consistently scary across four completely different environments—from a creaky old mansion to a desolate base in deep space. In horror, if the player feels 'safe' or if the game looks unrealistic, the tension is lost. I had to ensure that the lighting, sound, and story felt professional and high-end, while managing a complex narrative where the player's choices actually change the outcome of the game.
The Solution
To achieve a 'Next-Gen' look, I utilized lighting techniques and custom environmental effects that bring the mansion, forest, and space stations to life. I also developed a reactive audio system where the sounds change based on the player’s fear levels, heightening the psychological tension. The result is a polished, Steam-ready title that proves I can handle complex, multi-layered projects from initial concept to a professional release.
